Career and Work Experience

Cedar Middle School

2017-Present

This past August I was hired to be an ESL Aide for Cedar Middle School. This has been a great experience to gain K-12 ESL experience. The kids in the photo to the left are the ones I help in the supplementary class everyday. They bring me so much joy and it's very rewarding to be able to help them become bilingual. My duties include push-in and push-out ESL instruction, WIDA testing, and grade montoring.

US Ling Institute

Summer 2017

After earning my TESL certificate from Snow College, I really wanted to put it to work. I called several ESL schools in the state and was offered a job at US Ling Institute. I was hired the day before classes started. Within a matter of 24 hours I was interviewed, briefed, and given a class of 9 eager adults ready to learn English. I taught an Intensive High Intermediate Grammar class four nights a week. Each class session was five hours.  I was able to create my own lesson plans, enter grades, and give my own assessments. I've never learned so much from a job than this one.

Snow college Conversation Tutor

2016-2017

My second year at Snow I was hired as a Conversation Tutor for the ESL department. Another student and I would teach an hour speaking class every day to International Students enrolled in the ESL department. We taught Level 1 through Level 4 ESL. This opportunity gave me my first experience with teaching and where I finally found my career path.
